Canada! I had no idea how glorious Vancouver is, you should have told me!
I had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver this month, for TED. I was there for a few very busy days full of extreme networking (kind of like extreme sports only with handshaking) and event stuff, but I did manage to find some time to getaway. Here are some highlights.
Kit + Ace - technical cashmere in amazing styles that are casual and everyday beautiful. My closet is slowly transforming into a Kit + Ace showroom. They are headquartered in Vancouver, and their flagship retail location has designers on-site. Cool.
Oak + Fort - I originally decided to keep walking after glancing in the window, because it looked too expensive. But then of course I convinced myself to just take a little look - and was pleasantly surprised by the prices. The quality is not top notch, but for the price it works and the styles are really nice and fashion forward but not trendy. Good classic stuff there.
Kingyo - There are probably more Japanese restaurants in Vancouver than Starbucks, and Kingyo is one of the best I think (according to the internet). Great Ramen, great sushi and sashimi, and great other things that I can't pronounce. Also, great selection of Shochu which is hard to find unless you are literally in Japan.
Lastly, this web site is great, and they have a Vancouver section which has some great photos of the city: http://www.12hrs.net/guides/12-hrs-in-vancouver#vancouver-intro
